The Transmission "Rebuild" Plan

The plan is to take a Turbo Hydro 350 (TH350) transmission and give it an over haul. The overhaul I plan on doing will consist of replacing every bushing (that I can get to), seals, all plates and clutches, a higher stall torque converter, and after some reading and research a “Shift Improver Kit” (as B&M calls it). As I found out, rebuilding a TH350 is rather quite simple once you had read through a book or two. In fact once I was done with this one, I wanted to do another one, just for the heck of it.

Some “run of the mill tools” are needed as well as a couple specific transmission tools are needed and make the job easier too. I bought some of the tools, but fabricated others and used my shop press, which made 100% difference to replace bushings and to depress the sets of clutch springs.

The Plan Details:
- Tear the transmission down and note part locations
- Have the case "cooked" or "tanked"
- Give it a coat a paint
- Rebuild the transmission
- Install the B&M Shift Improver Kit
- Slap on a higher stall torque converter
The end result should be a transmission that will be used for daily driving on nice days and to car shows. (Basically just a stock type build.)
